Founded by Paul Allen - Continuing under Dennis Allen
Dennis Allen has been working in the timber business under his father, Paul Allen, since he was a boy.
He spent summers from sunup to sundown alongside Paul, learning the trade with rudimentary equipment and putting in long days in the woods of Southern Illinois.
Over the past approximately 45 years, Dennis has helped steadily improve and modernize the company’s operations, moving from those early hands-on methods to today’s mostly mechanized timber harvesting.
He continues to lead the business with the same work ethic and practical knowledge he learned from Paul.
Paul Allen (1937 - 2026)
Paul started Paul Allen Logging in Clinton County in the 1970s and built a reputation as one of the hardest-working men in Southern Illinois. His son Dennis joined him in the business, and together they formed what became Paul & Dennis Allen Export.
Paul was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and deep knowledge of the timber industry. The values he established - fair dealing, careful work, and respect for the land - continue to guide the company today under Dennis's leadership.
Paul is missed by his family, friends, and all who worked with him. The company remains committed to carrying forward the standards he help set for the company.
